Informative seminars on Alzheimer’s disease in Barcelona

The informative seminars on Alzheimer’s disease and its medical, legal, ethical and social aspects will begin next Tuesday, 10 March, with the presence of Jordi Camí, director of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, in the inaugural session that will take place in the Caixa Catalunya Auditorium, La Pedrera, Barcelona.
The first of the three sessions is based on the diagnosis and treatment of the Alzheimer’s disease. The speakers will be Dr. Alberto Lleó, of the Unit of Alzheimer of the Hospital Sant Pau and Dr. Pablo Martínez-Lage, of the ACE Foundation, and Dr. Jordi Peña-Casanova, of the Hospital del Mar, as a moderator. The experts will speak about the importance of the diagnosis and of the techniques used, the current therapies and new strategies, among them the immunotherapy.
The goal of these seminars is to brief the sufferers and their relatives about the medical, legal, ethical and social aspects of the Alzheimer’s disease. Likewise, the seminars intend to make aware the society about a pathology that is increasing.
The seminars are organized by Obra Social Caixa Catalunya, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, the Hospital of Sant Pau, the Alzheimer Catalunya Foundation, the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer of Barcelona, the Federation of Relatives Associations of Alzheimer of Catalonia and the Barcelona Town Council.
